71% of investors see ESG as a core driver of their shareholder governance strategies & are looking for change. Issuers are well aware, with 80% of respondents citing their investors as driving shareholder engagement, as well as 78% citing the importance of investor pressures.
The current model demonstrates strong automation amongst issuers (94%), but this dwindles when it comes to class actions & proxy voting, where 64% of investors see major issues in class actions engagement – primarily due to lack of expertise & continued dependency on manual processes.
There has been 34% growth in the last two years, with 33% more growth in class actions expected in the next two years & a quarter of investors citing rates of over 50%.
30% of intermediaries are not yet investing in shareholder engagement transformation & therefore lagging behind their clients & resulting in further lack of scale.
31% of intermediaries are investing in outsourcing end-to-end process management, whereas investor focus is on improved data feeds & specialist talent & resource.
